Academic Career
Dr. Friedman serves as Head of Research and Development at Mayanei HaYeshua Medical Centre. He teaches as a Senior Lecturer at the Dina Recanati School of Medicine at Reichman University and at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Tel Aviv University. He chairs the Arts in Medicine Programme at Reichman University and is Associate Editor of PRS Global Open, Scientific Reports (Springer Nature) and SAGE Open Medicine.
His research addresses questions that arise from surgical practice, drawing on plastic surgery, health law, ethics and decision science to develop new ways of thinking about complex problems. He is the author of four international books and has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles.
Current Work
Dr. Friedman maintains an active clinical practice in Tel Aviv, with a focus on complex breast surgery and reconstruction. He continues to publish and lecture, regarding clinical practice, research and writing as different expressions of the same professional work.
"My goal is not to perform as many operations as possible. It is to choose the right procedure, and sometimes to recommend not operating at all."
